16-19 STUDY PROGRAMME
The Government’s 16 to 19 study programmes are designed to provide students with a structured and challenging individualised learning programme that supports their development and progression in line with their future career plans.
At the Redhill Academy student pathways:
- Include one or more academic or vocational qualifications that support students in moving towards higher education, training or employment. The majority of students study three A-level subjects (and for some, a Level 3 BTEC), however, four subject pathways are available through the Further Mathematics and EPQ qualifications. Pathways are reviewed when necessary, together with entry requirements in response to the greater robustness of the new qualifications, which ensure students maximise their options of progression at the end of the sixth form.
- Require students who do not have GCSE 4-9 in Maths or English to work towards the achievement of these qualifications.
- Ensure students partake in significant work experience and other activity that is not qualification based, including full participation in tutor time, the Redhill Academy Stellar Programme and enrichment sessions at least once a week in Year 12. Further optional activities are available through activities such as the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, membership in the Redhill Hot House programme, and some will join Cambridge University’s HE+ scheme. We hope all of these will help students develop interpersonal and communication skills, as well as prepare them for their next steps.
